HISTORY

1998
After acquiring its first area of land (32.68 hectares), the Quebec Fauna Foundation acquired a further 14.92 hectares of wooded land.

Interest in these areas of land is due to the fact that they are located in a white zone (non-agricultural zone) on the edge of an urban area; in other words, the land has been excluded from being used for residential development. This has resulted in the consolidation of one of the rare remaining wooded zones on the South Shore of Montreal.

2002
In April, the Quebec Fauna Foundation made a request to be recognized as a nature reserve in the private sector.

2004
In October, the opportunity arose to acquire 7.85 hectares of land. It was decided with the Ministry of the Environment to integrate this additional area of land into the project. The acquisition was officially completed in March 2004.
